Salmon roe — also called red caviar, salmon caviar, and ikura — is the eggs of salmon. Salmon red roe – is a tasty, nutritious and useful. It is rich of Omega-3 fatty acids, which, according to scientific research, have a positive effect on brain activity and can contribute to reducing the risks of heart and oncological diseases, which are extremely common health problems in today‘s fast-paced world. Salmon red roe is also rich in other useful substances: vitamins A, D, B group, easily digestible proteins, fats and minerals (for example: potassium, phosphorus and calcium).
We do not divide red roe according to it‘s size, but according to the type of fish. Pacific salmon red roe is extracted from pink salmon roe, chum salmon roe, sockeye salmon roe, chinnok salmon, king salmon. The roe of all these fish differs in taste, color and grain size.
The pink salmon roe is the most popular. It has a fresh, clean and mild taste. With a beautifully vibrant, orange color these eggs have a mild pop, with a medium dry with a juicy finish.
Sockeye salmon roe has from bright to dark red colour and significantly smaller than the other varieties, sockeye salmon roe can have a pleasantly bitter natural finish and has a shorter shelf life also has the smaller grain size and is especially valued in the world of gastronomy.
